Why Metal?
Every EXIST object is made entirely from metal.
It's a conscious choice, and an important one. Most beauty packaging is plastic. Even the pieces that look like metal are often plastic with a thin metallic coating - making them much harder to recycle, and giving the impression of something they're not. Every one of our products is 100% metal - a single material, from the outer shell to the mechanism inside - so they can be recycled easily and efficiently without the need for complex material separation.
Inner mechanisms are almost always built from several types of plastic to achieve their functionality. We engineered ours from precision aluminium instead, and removed plastic from the system entirely. Our SPACELIP™ refill Capsule is made from mono-material aluminium. When it's empty, it goes straight into your household recycling, like a can or a tin. It’s the world’s first all-metal refill system for lip care. Beauty that can return, and return, and return again.
